Please note the Code Compliance Service Department’s (CCS) Consumer Health Division began testing mosquitos for the presence of the West Nile Virus (WNV) and other mosquito related diseases on May 15th of this year. The Department monitors approximately 70 strategically located traps throughout the City weekly during mosquito season (May -November). Yesterday, the CCS Department, Consumer Health Division received confirmation from the Department of State Health Services laboratory of a positive WNV mosquito sample pool. The positive sample pool was collected from the 1600 block of Bruck in District 4. Weather permitting, Ground spraying efforts for mosquito control will begin in this area to include a one half (1/2 mile) mile radius of the positive sample pool collection on Saturday July 1, and Sunday, July 2, 2023, between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. To date there have been no confirmed human cases of the WNV virus within the City of Dallas.
